Switzerland: Do’s and Don’ts

DO plan your budget carefully!! Switzerland uses Swiss Francs (CHF) unlike the rest of Europe and things are VERY EXPENSIVE here! CHF is about 1:1 to EUR but an average dinner could cost you CHF40 while taking the train downtown could cost around CHF7 for one way!

DO take advantage of free services, for example, if you arrive from Geneva on a flight, you can ride in the metro within Geneva for 80mins free (get a ticket before you go out into the arrivals hall)! Also Wi-Fi is readily available on some train stations and all you have to do is enter a phone number which can receive sms (one number can be used repeatedly for multiple mobiles!), some don’t even need to register!

DO do some research and learn a bit about the country and which city you are going to before you come here, it’s very special in that it has a French and German side and no capital city, so don’t go bringing a French dictionary to the German side.
